Frequently asked questions....

+ What should I wear to my osteopathic appointment?
Wearing something comfortable and loose is ideal and will make our job that much easier.
+ What should I bring with me?                                                                                     Please bring any current or relevant X-ray results, scans or medical reports that you may have. A list of current medications and a water bottle.
+ Do I need a referral to see an osteopath?                                                                     No, the great thing is you can self-refer for any of the treatments we offer at WeaverHouse.
+ How soon can I get an appointment to see an Osteopath?                                    You should be able to get an appointment within 3 days of call depending upon availability of times and it's sometimes possible to get an appointment the same day.
+ Can I choose to see either a Male or Female Osteopath?                                       When you call to make your appointment you will be asked if you have a preference of seeing either a male or female osteopath and we are fortunate to have two male osteopaths and two female osteopaths and you are also more than welcome to bring a chaperone to your appointment should that make you feel more comfortable.
You are welcome to contact WeaverHouse in confidence to discuss your personal situation and/or to book an appointment.

How can an osteopath help with foot and ankle pain?

  • Depending on the diagnosis and your age and fitness we can use a variety of gentle massage and manipulative techniques to increase the mobility of the joints and the flexibility of the muscles in the foot.
  • We will often look at muscles and joints in the lower limb, the knee, hip and lower back and may treat any joint restrictions and muscle tightness we find there. Often improving the movement in the joints of the lower will help the foot and ankle function better.
  • We may offer specific balancing, strengthening or loosening exercises
  • We may offer advice on strapping and brace supports, footwear and any lifestyle factors that might be hindering healing.
  • We may refer you to our Podiatrist for his opinion and specialist foot supports.
  • X-rays, scans or other tests may be required to make a diagnosis  and we may refer you to your  GP for any additional  investigations and treatment  such as advice on pain killers and anti-inflammatory medications.

Our team is growing....

We are very pleased to welcome Paul, our new Massage Therapist to WeaverHouse. Read on to find out more....

Hi, my name is Paul. I am currently working towards my BSc (Hons) Complementary Therapies for Healthcare.
I am level 5 qualified in a range of modalities including massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, musculoskeletal injury management, k-taping, seated massage, postural assessment, and Chinese Tui’Na massage.
I specialise in Massage therapy, including remedial, deep tissue, relaxation, and stress relief. Being qualified in aromatherapy means that we can enhance the therapeutic effects of massage by utilising the restorative and healing powers of essential oils through bespoke blending and application.
Holistic treatment is at the core of my beliefs, treating the mind as well as the body to restore and maintain a homeostatic balance.
A proud member of The Federation of Holistic Therapists and included on the Accredited register of the Professional Standards Authority.
Outside of work, I’m usually found with guitar in hand playing venues across North Wales and Cheshire, sometimes I give singing a go too!
Sport plays a big part in my life, for many years I practiced martial arts, basketball and archery. American Football is probably my favourite sport now and has allowed me to stand on cold, damp and sometimes frozen pitches, and become team massage therapist to quite a few local teams.

What can Massage do for you?

In an ideal world, Massage would form an integral part of your self care routine to maintain wellness and prevent injury or pain.
From increasing awareness to relaxation to pain relief, everyone can benefit from regular massages.
It is even more advantageous if you suffer from ongoing/reoccurring pain; Advanced Clinical Massage can relieve most muscular pain conditions and help manage stress. Here are just a few conditions that Massage can help with...

Tension headaches and migraines: The muscles in your neck and scalp are often the root cause of these conditions. Did you know that a tight SCM (the cord like muscle at the front of your neck) can cause earache, headaches, watery eyes and sore throats?

Plantar fasciitis: often the causal factor here is tight calf muscles and often this extends throughout your ‘posterior chain’ - the muscles down the back of your body. With a focussed lower leg and foot treatment backed up with hamstring, glutes and lower back, massage can relieve your symptoms over a course of appointments.

Frozen Shoulder, hip and pelvic pain, lower back pain: ACMT (Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy) has a wide range of very focussed techniques that are incredibly effective in treating these conditions.

Stress relief: the meditative quality of massage in the rhythm and low lighting allows you space to just be. On top of that, Massage will unwind all of that stress related tension we hold in muscles.

If you’d like to take a step to a healthier, happier, pain free you, please book in to see me on a Monday, Thursday or Saturday at Weaver House.

We all have a story to tell....

This week Reanne, our new Massage Therapist gives us some background on her previous career and training.

Hello!  I am Reanne Benson and I am an Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist.
I specialise in chronic pain relief, especially post injury or surgery recovery.
I have a strong interest in rehabilitation and biomechanics after recovering from a knee injury and subsequent surgery myself.

During my treatments, I use a combination of traditional techniques alongside Amma (a Japanese therapy using deep static pressure), Soft Tissue Release (specific, focussed stretches for different areas of individual muscles), Acupressure, Trigger Point Therapy and Myofascial Release, which is especially effective in the treatment of scar tissue and generalised tension.

I also incorporate Aromatherapy and Reflexology where appropriate for relaxation and to enhance treatments.  Qualified to BTEC L5 in Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy (ACMT) through Jing Advanced Massage Training in Brighton, I am also working towards a degree level qualification in Advanced Clinical Massage and Sports Massage through the same provider.

Alongside ACMT, I am qualified in Equine Sports Massage and enjoy working with both horse and rider to improve performance.  I am a member of both the SMA and ESMA.

An outdoor person, I am a keen horse rider and competitor in Endurance Riding with my horse Harley.   My dog, Elsa, helps with my fitness by getting me out for regular runs and I attend circuit sessions at my gym several times a week.  Having recently left the RAF, I volunteer with the RAF Air Cadets, enjoy photography and to relax I love to curl up with a good book whenever I get chance.
